Business visitor visa
A B-1 visitor visa can permit certain temporary business activities in the United States, including qualifying meetings, consultations, conferences and contract negotiations.
Business activity is not employment
A visitor visa generally does not authorise employment in the United States, and the distinction matters more than most applicants expect. Attending a conference is not the same as working at one. Negotiating a contract is not the same as being paid by a U.S. employer to perform work.
Getting the description of your trip right, and consistent with what your employer says, is a large part of preparing a B-1 application properly.
What we help with
Describing the purpose of the trip accurately, setting out your employment and your ties at home, and organising supporting information such as an invitation or a letter from your employer.
We also go through what you may be asked at the interview about the nature of the work you will be doing, which is where imprecise wording tends to surface.
