U.S. visa renewal
Held a U.S. visa before? Do not assume the process will be the same as it was last time.
What may be different
Rules and procedures change, sometimes between one application and the next. Some qualifying B1/B2 renewal applicants may be eligible for an interview waiver, but eligibility is limited and a consular officer may still require an interview.
Your circumstances will also have changed since last time: a new job, a new address, a marriage, children, travel to other countries. All of it belongs in the new application, and inconsistency with what you said before is one of the things that causes questions.
What we do for a renewal
The same as for a first application, with particular attention to what has changed since your last one and whether your answers line up with it.
If it turns out you qualify for an interview waiver, that is good news and costs you nothing extra with us. We are not going to tell you an interview is required when it is not.
